Jim, Rand, and I shared one large room making the stay maggot priced. We could have fit all the bikes under here but we chose to leave the picnic table in the shade.

Even one person to a room prices were very economical.

Weaverville straddles US299 and most everything we could need was within walking distance.

Food was great if somewhat pricey. Many choices for brewskis but several were unavailable due to tap problems the night we visited.

Thursday morning we were clutch out at 10:00am and headed west on US299 toward Arcata but half an hour later we were stopped on the side of the road for repairs.

As Harry put it, the worm had turned and blown out of Rand's holey tire.

The hole was so large the first plug pulled right out.

The second try held as the boys did not pull quite so hard and used air pressure to help hold it in place.

The Trinity River followed US299 until we started climbing out of the river valley.

Near the end of US299 is the sleepy little town of Blue Lake where we stopped for lunch. Going with the flow we just ran into this place but the sign said BBQ.

The tri-tip sandwich grilled outdoors to order was delicious. Some of the boys enjoyed the sunshine while my bald head rested in the shade.

According to the sign this tavern has been around since the 1800's and was across the street from out lunch stop.
